Picture this: You load your trusty Samsung washer, eagerly anticipating for fresh, clean laundry. But wait. As the washer runs, you note a perplexing thing – a Samsung washer SUD code but no suds inside the washer.
Are my eyes deceiving me? How could this be? What’s up with the washer?
Well, these are just some of the questions that might start racing through your head.
For this reason, today, I will be guiding you through what might be causing this funny problem. And of course, I will also tell you how you can fix the washer.
Samsung washer SUD code but no suds – what might be causing it
For the most part, this is usually a result of a high torque tripping the suds error. And, this occurs if your washer is experiencing a slow drain.
It is this slow drain that will result in the drum starting to spin while it still has a lot of water in the tub hence the code.
Bearing that in mind, the slow drain can be due to one (or more) of the following reasons:
- A clogged drain filter.
- Clogged drain pump.
- Kinked/clogged drain hose.
This is more so if the suds code seems to be occurring after the wash cycle (during rinse cycle).
Allow me to explain.
There is a possibility that a sock (or other small items) might get wedged in one of these parts during the spin cycle hence the slow drainage problem.
Moving on…
Other than a slow drain problem, your Samsung washer might also display the SUD code if you overfill it with laundry.
As interesting as it might sound, filling the washer with laundry will interfere with its sensors – they might detect the extra laundry as suds.
So, what can you do to fix the suds error code?

Since the suds code can be due to several reasons, it goes without saying that there are several different ways to fix it.
And they are…
Make sure you are not overloading your washer
Ideally, you want the washer to be utmost 2/3 – 3/4 way full.
Any more and you not only risk the suds error code but also overworking the motor.
Clean the drain filter
Pro tip: This only applies if your washer is a front load model.
Bearing that in mind, remove the drain filter and discard any debris that might be in there.
Next, wash the filter (by scrubbing it using a toothbrush under running water) to get rid of any residue debris.
You can now reinsert the filter.
Clean the drain pump
If your model is a top load, start by leaning it on its back and removing the bottom panel. This will make it easier for you to access and remove the drain pump.
On the other hand, if yours is a front load model, simply remove the back panel and you should locate the drain pump beneath the drum.
Now, proceed to remove the pump and remove the two screws that hold it in place.
With the pump in hand, check for (and remove) any foreign objects that might have been trapped in there.
Other than that, you will want to test and confirm that the pump is working as it should.
You see, a slow spinning spindle (or other pump problem) could also be causing the slow drain.

Inspect the drain hose for clogs or kinks
As we have seen earlier on, this is the final cause of a slow drainage problem.
That being so, be sure to straighten out any kinks that might be along the drain hose.
And while still on the drain hose, be sure to check and remove any foreign objects that might have found their way in there.
For this, I normally find a vacuum cleaner to be a good cleaning tool.
Other times, the code can be a result of suds forming in your washer. And, below is what you can do to reset the code…
Run the self-clean cycle
Typically, you should run this cycle once a month or after every 30 wash cycles.
Nonetheless, if your washer is producing extra suds, you can run the self-clean cycle without anything (though you can add some vinegar).
Pro tip: Run the self-clean cycle using the hottest water temperature on your washer. This makes removing the soap residue much easier and faster.
Another thing, if you are not able to get rid of the suds in one self-clean cycle, you can repeat the cycle as necessary.
Use the right detergent
And finally, confirm that you are using the right detergent. In this case, HE detergent.
As for what amount to use, simply follow the guidelines from the detergent’s manufacturer.
This is because there are different detergent concentrations such as 1X, 2X, 3X, and so on.
And oh, you will want to avoid washing dishcloths inside the dishwasher.
You see, some of the dish detergent might still be on the dishcloth and this might be what is making your washer to sud up like crazy.

For the most part, a sud code means that the washer is detecting the drum to be overly sudsy.
Other than that, it could also be that your washer is experiencing a slow-drain cycle or that you are overfilling the washer.
And, this is what is triggering the washer’s sensors to interpret the washer as full of suds.
